MNPS Western Mountains Chapter Meeting and Program

Speaker: Kerrie Kyde, Invasive Plant Ecologist, Maryland Natural Heritage Program

Topic: Maryland's Invasive Ornamental Plant Ban Law: History and Implementation

Location: Appalachian Laboratory, Frostburg, MD

The Maryland Legislature established the state Invasive Plant Advisory Committee in 2011, to advise the Secretary of Agriculture on invasive plants whose production and sale should be limited within the state. Ms. Kyde will discuss the establishment of the IPAC, the system it is using to assess plant species risk, and the status of the Tier 1/Tier 2 plant list in Maryland.

The program will begin immediately following a brief MNPS chapter business meeting. The public is welcome to attend.
