Winter Tree ID (Friday)

  • 12/21/2018
  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Gatewood Preserve, Prince Frederick

NOTE: This program, originally scheduled for 12/14 will be held on 12/21

All trees do not look alike in winter! We'll learn the basics of plant identification using winter keys and field guides, then take a hike to use our knowledge. This program is designed for those with little or no experience and will focus on twigs, buds, and bark.

For adults and older teens.

The workshop will be an indoor and outdoor class. We will not walk very far outside, but dress warm enough for standing outside looking at trees. Warm jack, gloves, hat, boots.

Optional: Bring a hand lens, pocket knife, binoculars and your favorite tree guide.

For adults, although teens 16 years and older may attend.

Sponsoring Organizations: MNPS, Calvert County Natural Resources Division, and Calvert Nature Society

Location: Gatewood Preserve,  Prince Frederick,  Calvert County. Directions will be sent to those who register. Register: online via Calvert Nature Society
