Winter Greens: Identification of plants that are green in the winter.

Learn to identify some of our evergreen plants, including ferns, fern allies, herbaceous and woody plants.For adults or older teens.

Wear warm clothes for standing around outside (we won't be moving very fast) although we will start the program inside with a quick identification and field guide lesson.
Bring (optional, but useful) a 10x hand lens, binoculars, field guides to ferns or winter trees.

Location: Patuxent River Park, Jug Bay Natural Area; 16000 Croom Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. 301-627-6074. Meet in the Gun Club.

Directions. From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Exit 11A, (Pennsylvania Avenue), Route 4 east for 8 miles. Take Route 301 south for 1.7 miles. Turn left on Croom Station Road and continue for 1.6 miles. Turn left on Croom Road (Route 382) and proceed for 1.5 miles. Turn left on Croom Airport Road and continue for 2 miles. At park entrance turn left and proceed 1.7 miles to park office. We'll meet in the Gun Club. Also visit the park web site.
