As enthusiasts of the outdoors, we know that no matter what we put in our garden, it has a way of surprising us each season. Perhaps a blue vervain you planted last summer will strike a deeper purple this year, or a buttonbush you never noticed before will be covered with nectar seeking butterflies. Gardens that use native plants speak to us because they don’t just mimic nature - they are a part of it.

Environmental Concern has been growing native plants for over 38 years and every year we invite our retail customers to come share their love of nature with us. Please join us for our semi-annual native plant sale where you will have the opportunity to browse and purchase from a selection of our native plants as well as pick the brains of the staff who grew them.

On Friday May 20th we will be open to the public for plant sale purchases from 9:00-4:00. At 4:00 p.m. on Friday, our Education Department will teach a Rain Barrel Workshop. Pre-registration is recommended for this workshop, but not required.

On Saturday May 21st the plant sale runs from 9:00-2:00, which coincides with our annual Open House event. You will have the opportunity to tour the on-site wetlands and the nursery, and meet EC’s president Suzanne Pittenger-Slear. There will also be kids’ activities from 10:00-1:00.

If you already know which plants you want and would like to make sure we hold them for you, please contact the nursery at nursery-sales@wetland.org or 410-745-9620. Visit www.wetland.org for our current retail availability and directions.
