- Native Plants For Central Maryland Landscapes, for the Piedmont and inner Coastal Plain. This is a commented list complied by MNPS member Louisa Thompson. It is specifically for central Maryland and contains most of the common, reasonably ornamental, trees, shrubs, and flowering plants, plus some uncommon but especially beautiful ones, and a few that have special wildlife value.
- Native Plants For Wildlife Habitat And Conservation Landscaping In Maryland, published by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Chesapeake Bay Field Office. These three lists specifically address the different habitats in the three sections of our state. There is a general section in each list that covers such topics as "designing a habitat". The light, moisture and soil requirements are outlined for each species. The plant information for these lists was compiled by MNPS member Carol Jelich.
