Mountain Maryland Native Plant Festival

Discover the important connection between native plants, people and wildlife at the first annual Mountain Maryland Native Plant Festival!

A large variety of plants native to the mid-Atlantic will be available for sale (cash or check only) from these select regional native plant nurseries. Advance orders are appreciated!

Activities include:
  • Birds Count...Why You Should Too! (tally birds for “May Count” during this walk with Mary Huebner, Allegany & Garrett Counties’ Bird Club)
  • Alien Invaders (search for exotic plants invading New Germany State Park)
  • Let’s Pull Together (protect an endangered butterfly by pulling garlic mustard)
  • Plant-able Paper (create writing paper that you can take home and plant)
  • Scavenger Hunt for New Germany Natives ❀ (find native plants with special features)

Directions: From I-68 take exit 22 and follow signs for New Germany State Park. Turn left into the park onto McAndrews Hill Road. Signs will direct you to the event.
