Maryland Bryophytes Collected by Elmer G. Worthley

Compiled and Edited by Edward Uebel

Published by the Maryland Native Plant Society

The purpose of this manuscript is to preserve as much pertinent information about Maryland mosses as possible, so that future Maryland bryologists will have some knowledge about what mosses have been found in Maryland, their abundance, location, habitats, and associations. Dr. Worthley's herbarium contained 15 collections of hornworts, representing 4 species; 1138 collections of mosses representing 191 species; and 291 collections of hepatics representing 56 species.  All of these have been sent to the Missouri Botanical Garden.
