151st walk in the Wild Washington- Forts series

Continuing our series of visits to Civil War Fort sites in Washington, DC we will return to FORT SLOCUM. It is two blocks wide and three blocks long. Though surrounded by lawn, the central part of the park is heavily wooded, with gigantic upland oaks and hickories and understory of the typical terrace gravel forest. A delightful walk in the woods for field botanists and naturalists.

Leaders: Allen Browne and Claudine Lebeau
