Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area is the largest serpentine barren in Maryland.  Serpentine barrens support a unique flora, which is adapted to low essential nutrients, but high concentrations of heavy metals.  The area has over 39 rare, threatened, or endangered plant species.  Horticulturist and plant ecologist, Chris Partain, will lead this trip.  We will meet at the visitor's center.

Location: 5100 Deer Park Rd., Owings Mills, MD 21117

Directions: From I-95 take I-695 N to exit 18B for Maryland 26W/Liberty Rd. From Liberty Rd, take a slight right onto Deer Park Rd.  The Natural Area's visitor's center is on the left.
