The Montgomery County Chapter of the Maryland Native Plant Society connects members who share an interest in Maryland’s native plants, natural areas, and habitats. The chapter expands opportunities for local participation through field trips, educational walks, meetings, workshops, volunteer activities, and informal gatherings throughout Montgomery County.
Montgomery County’s parks, forests, stream valleys, meadows, and residential landscapes offer rich opportunities to explore native plants and promote thoughtful stewardship. The chapter welcomes all interested MNPS members and aims to build a vibrant, inclusive community where members can learn together, share knowledge, develop volunteer leadership, and support the Society’s mission of education, research, advocacy, and conservation.
The chapter is initially led by co-chairs Jill Fonda Allen and Heidi Hayes, with support from other interested members. As participation grows, the chapter plans to develop a steering committee, communication network, partnerships with local organizations, and additional volunteer opportunities.
Together, we are working to make MNPS more accessible and active at the local level while contributing to the Society’s statewide mission.
